Shaw ends season at state swim meet

    HHS junior Keegan Shaw wrapped up a successful boys swimming season with the Valley Vikings Friday, May 18, with his preliminary swim in the 100-yard freestyle in the 4A state meet at the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs.
    Holyoke coach Aly Brinkema cited the sign on the pool deck of the Air Force Academy, which reads, “The air is rare.” She said that certainly is true.
    Colorado Springs is home to the Olympic Training Center where the best U.S. swimmers in the world go to train in the high altitude.
    “Keegan displayed his usual calm under pressure and swam an excellent time of 0:55.75,” said Brinkema.
