Sluggers find their groove in 21-run victory

After winning a close game 1-0 against Caliche last Tuesday, Holyoke baseball crushed its opponent in the second game  of the doubleheader. The April 11 game finished after five innings, with a score of 21-4.

“There were a lot of good pitches to hit, and we didn’t miss them,” coach Sam Distefano said. “It was a really good team win,” he added.  

Holyoke 1, Caliche 0
HHS scored its one run in the first inning of Tuesday’s game. Blake Mosenteen stole a base after getting to first on balls. Brendan Mayden went on to hit a single and earn an RBI on the Dragons’ one run.

Caleb Deaver started on the mound for Holyoke. He pitched five innings and faced 22 batters, striking out nine and walking three. Jesus Trejo pitched the last two inn­ings, facing nine batters and allowing two bases on balls. Deaver allowed three hits and Trejo one, but the team held Caliche scoreless, finishing the game 1-0.
