Softball season ends with loss in Lamar

Holyoke softball season ended with an 11-4 loss to Lamar in regional action Saturday, Oct. 16.

Coach Kendra Schlachter said she was really proud of how the girls played in Lamar.

“It was a really good way to end the season,” she said. “They went all seven innings, stuck together, fought hard and played well together.” She said that while it wasn’t the way the seniors wanted to end the season, they still played great.

She added that Lamar has good hitters who hit the ball in the gaps, but Holyoke’s outfielders still stole a lot of hits from Lamar batters.

She noted that Aliyah Engle pitched great and did everything asked of her. Lamar, being a larger school, was able to throw three different pitchers at Holyoke batters.
