Softball suffers double loss to Limon

Holyoke softball had a difficult day at their doubleheader at Limon last Tuesday, Sept. 11, ultimately losing both games, 4-11 and 8-10.
Despite late-game surges, the Dragons were unable to match the onslaught of runs scored by their opponents.
“It definitely wasn’t our best performance; we struggled offensively and defensively through both games,” coach Sherman Kage said. “And with these types of things, we tend to beat ourselves up mentally.”
He added that the team has been struggling to fill holes left by injured players — pitcher Haley Van Overbeke was injured prior to the team’s Aug. 30 doubleheader against Yuma, and leadoff hitter Molly Brown was hurt during the final game of the Brush tournament Sept. 8.
“We’re still trying to get comfortable and build that trust with people in Brown’s spot.”
Kage said the team would be reviewing film from the games and working on substituting players into open spaces in the pitching and batting order.
