Softball swept by Gering
Holyoke softball lost two games in Gering, Nebraska, on Saturday, Aug. 28, both by the score of 12-0, to even their season record at 3-3.
“We just came out completely flat,” coach Sherman Kage said, adding that it was a complete off day for the girls and they’re hoping to quickly bounce back.
Kage said Holyoke did not hit the ball well. He also noted that the girls made lots of baserunning and defensive errors, all adding up to what he called an unsound and uncharacteristic game for the Lady Dragons.
“We just beat ourselves,” he said. “We just weren’t on the same page.”
Kage noted that although Gering is a decent team, he felt Holyoke should have won the games or at least have been more competitive.
He said the team will be working more on picking up the ball out of the pitcher’s hand when batting to try to get back discipline and consistency.
