Softball team ready for fall season
The Lady Dragons softball team will kick off its season this weekend, with a tournament at Platte Valley in Kersey on Friday-Saturday, Aug. 19-20.
Kendra Schlachter, who joined the program as an assistant coach in 2012, is taking over the reins as the head coach this year. Rounding out the coaching staff are Chandler Gerk and Rebecca Owens, both former Holyoke softball players.
With a good group of core returning players in addition to many new faces, the team is larger this year. They are focusing on small, attainable goals throughout the season as they look ahead to the state tournament Oct. 21-22.
