Swim club has 3 meets down, 3 to go

Nine pool records were broken at the Northwest Kansas Swim League meet in Oakley, Kansas, June 17. Holyoke Swim Club’s Rylee Schneller was one of the swimmers to do so, finishing the 13-14-year-old girls 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:16.87 and breaking a nine-year record.
Goodland, Kansas, came in first with a score of 402.5, followed by Holyoke 331, Burlington 176, Colby, Kansas, 135, Oberlin, Kansas, 91.5, Oakley 66 and Wray 39.
The summer swim season is now halfway done, and the next meet will be Saturday, June 24, in Colby. After three meets, coach Aly Brinkema said it has been a rewarding season, seeing swimmers develop endurance and technique and, more importantly, handle challenges and obstacles with confidence.
Coach Adria Colver noted the 9-12-year-old boys did not change events, so it was especially easy to see their improvement. “After three hard weeks,” she said, “they swam tired, but very sharply.”
