Swim team ready to head into conference, then state action

After a wild week with lots of sickness, the Lady Dragon swim team is ready to dive into the final weeks of the season.

On Tuesday, Jan. 28, with 15 swimmers, the team competed in the league relays at Eaton.

This is the meet where every team in the league gets together, and it serves as a precursor to the Feb. 7-8 Tri-Valley Conference championships scheduled at Thompson Valley High School in Loveland. “As always, we had a lot of fun,” coach Aly Brinkema said.

“The team did well overall but struggled with some false starts on the relay exchanges,” Brinkema added.

Thursday, Jan. 30, was the final dual of the season with Skyline.

While 16 HHS swimmers were entered, only eight were able to go, due to sickness.

Holyoke took first in eight of the 11 swimming events and second place in two.
