Swimmers medal, take 5 events to state finals

Holyoke High School brought home a state medal for the first time in 18 years following the 2019 Girls 3A State Swimming Championships last Friday and Saturday, Feb. 8-9, in addition to taking a record five events to finals.
Rylee Schneller’s 10th-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke was Holyoke’s first top-10 finish since the finals swim of coach Aly Brinkema in 2001. Schneller earned a time of 1:14.16.
Brinkema said she and the girls were grateful for the amount of support that they received at the meet, which was held at the Eldora Pool Ice Center in Fort Collins.
“The ladies were thrilled, and I was completely humbled by our huge fan section,” she said. “Holyoke High School and our community were proudly represented by this team in and out of the pool with respect and sportsmanship.”
