Swimmers pull down points at Mountain View

Holyoke High School girls swim team entered the second half of its season with a bang at the Mountain View Invite in Loveland on Jan. 5, dropping times and placing in six events.
Coach Aly Brinkema said the team kept up its momentum by getting in the pool and training over the district’s holiday break.
“The two most stressful meets for a coach are the meets just prior to break and immediately following, because they set the tone for the remainder of the season,” she said. “We are extremely proud of this group of young ladies.”
Rylee Schneller placed second in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:13.05, beating the 4A qualifying time by 2.45 seconds.
In the 200-yard individual medley, Lali Marquez placed ninth, 2:37.68, and Traeli Hutches 16th, 2:47.04.
Marquez, Hutches, Schneller and Haley Van Overbeke placed ninth in the 400-yard freestyle relay, 4:09.38. The same team also placed 11th in the 200-yard medley relay, 2:07.83.
In the 100-yard freestyle, Van Overbeke placed 12th, 1:01.80, and Marquez 13th, 1:01.92.
Rylee Schneller placed 15th in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 0:27.93.
