Lady Dragons bring home 3 wins from the road last week

The Lady Dragon varsity basketball team passed the test of three road games in one week, finishing with three wins and advancing its record to 6-0.

Coach John Baumgartner said he has to give the girls credit for grinding through things in a demanding week. “They played hard on the road,” he said.

In looking back at the wins over Byers, Yuma and Merino, Baumgartner said the girls are rebounding well and defensively they are very concious of who they need to shut down.

He’s thankful for getting some more time to prep this week, noting they’ve been working on finding a more consistent rhythm for their offense. “We want four good quarters.”

Holyoke 53, Byers 30

The game in Byers on Tuesday, Feb. 2, got off to a quick start, and the early lead propelled the Lady Dragons to a 53-30 win.

Holyoke outscored Byers 24-3 in the first quarter, thanks in part to three 3-pointers by three different Lady Dragons. Holyoke put up eight points compared to Byers’ nine in the second to give HHS the 32-12 advantage at halftime.
