Tayla Martin earned first place in the 100-yard butterfly and second in the 50-yard freestyle in the first swim meet of the season at the Valley Invite on Friday, Dec. 3, to qualify for 3A state swimming in both events.
The Lady Dragons followed up the season opener with the NOCO Sprints in Fort Collins on Saturday, Dec. 4.
At the Valley Invite, Elly Brown, Aly Lock, Danielle Wilkening and Eva Kramer earned first place in the 200-yard medley relay.
Lady Dragon swimmers took the top three spots in the 200-yard freestyle with Summer Martin, Erin Andersen and Correy Koellner.
In the NOCO Sprints, Tayla Martin was the only Lady Dragon to place in the varsity competition.
Coach Emily Krogmeier said she was so proud of the girls and their effort.
“They raced incredibly hard and showed amazing sportsmanship at both meets,” she added. “We had girls competing in their very first swim meet. It was so fun to watch them grow in such a short amount of time. All of the girls are at a great spot for the beginning of the season.”
