Thompson, Andersen lead Dragons to Burlington win

The Holyoke golf team placed three in the top 10 and ran away with Thursday’s Burlington Invite.

The Dragons team score of 285 was  the lowest in program history.

Experience paved the way for the group.

Seniors Emma Thompson and Erin Andersen finished first and second with just one stroke difference, 91-92 respectively.

Head Coach Nick Flaa said the seniors missed out on their freshman season due to COVID,  but have been a part of some of Holyoke’s top program team scores, all happening in the last three years and improving each year.

“In 2021 we shot a season low 332 at Brush, in 2022 we finally broke that 300 mark with a 294 at Sky Ranch in Sterling which happens to be our Regional host in a couple weeks. Now this year at Burlington we shot an outstanding 285,” Flaa said.

Thompson has a high golf IQ and a great support system off the golf course that enables her to play at a high level, he continued.

“She does a lot of work on her own and it obviously translates to the success she continues to find from tee to green,” Flaa said.
