Track and field team adjusts to ‘normal’ year after COVID

The Holyoke High School track and field team saw much success last year and is hoping to build on that in the 2022 season.

However, this year will look much different than last year. The 2021 season was shortened and pushed back due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and the state meet didn’t take place until the last weekend in June.

Coach Corey Koberstein said the Dragons have a bigger roster this year because the season is not competing with other summer activities.

“This year being normal will be an adjustment back,” he said. “We actually have time to do things now, but getting kids to peak at the right time will take patience.”

The top 18 times and distances in Colorado at the end of the season will qualify for the state meet May 19-21 at JeffCo Stadium in Lakewood.
