Tracksters still battling wind

Koellner breaks school shot put record — again

Holyoke High School’s track and field teams continue to battle the wind meet after meet, including a competition in Yuma on Tuesday, April 12, and in Byers on Saturday, April 16.

Even though it was windy, the Dragons still got the opportunity to compete and better their own times, distances and heights and possibly even beat the guy or girl next to them, said coach Corey Koberstein.

At Saturday’s meet, Holyoke senior Correy Koellner once again beat her own school record in the shot put. At 40 feet, 5.5 inches, it was the first time she has thrown over 40 feet, which is quite an accomplishment, said Koberstein.

Both of last week’s meets were big with a high level of competition, which is good at this time of the season, he added. The Holyoke team didn’t have quite as many competitors as normal Saturday due to the Easter holiday weekend.
