Ty Dirks has great experience at state golf

Holyoke junior Ty Dirks represented Holyoke well at the 3A boys state golf meet at Spring Valley Golf Club in Elizabeth on Oct. 4-5.

Dirks tied his personal best score of 82 on the first day of competition and shot an 89 on day two for a tourney total of 171.

“Ty had a great time and learned a lot,” said coach David Mauler after the state event.

He said Dirks played very well on the first day to tie his personal best round ever.

Going into the last hole, it appeared that he would beat his personal best, but unfortunately he took a three-over-par on the hole to end up with 82.

He birdied his second hole of the tourney for a great start to the state action.
