Ty Dirks qualifies for boys state golf
The Holyoke boys golf team had a good performance at the regional tournament, and senior Ty Dirks punched his ticket to state.
On Tuesday, Sept. 20, Dirks, Chase Johnson, Cooper Goldenstein and Caiden Krueger traveled to Greeley for regional golf, held at the Highland Hills golf course.
The team played hard and tied for 15th place out of 23 teams.
Coach Colbey Stumpf said, “We played well on a course that posed many obstacles. It provided a good experience for our golfers for future competitions.”
While all four boys had a good day and learned a lot, Dirks was the only Holyoke athlete who qualified for the state tournament. He qualified for state with a shot of 83, which helped him to tie for 16th place.
Dirks will represent the Holyoke boys golf team at the Pinehurst Country Club in Denver on Monday-Tuesday, Oct. 3-4.
