University beats Brush for state softball title

When the Oct. 25-26 Colorado 3A state softball tournament came to an end, the University Bulldogs were the champions. They beat Brush 8-4 in Saturday’s championship game. University went into the state tournament ranked No. 1 and beat No. 16 Lamar 12-2 in round one.

In the quarterfinals, University beat No. 8 Limon 12-3. University went on to beat No. 4 Strasburg 13-2 in the semifinals before advancing to the final game with Brush.

Limon was the only District 4 team to qualify for the state tournament. The Badgers beat No. 9 Lyons 8-7 in round one before being knocked out by the state champs in the quarterfinals.
