Volleyball falls to 1A state champs

The Lady Dragon volleyball team suffered a loss in Merino on Tuesday, Sept. 7.

This is the second time this season that Holyoke has been matched up with the defending 1A state champions.

“They gave them a good fight,” said coach Michelle Vieselmeyer.

The girls took the first set all the way to 29-31. They lost the second set 20-25, and even though they were ahead in the third, HHS lost 21-25.

“Overall, we beat ourselves,” said Vieselmeyer, noting the team had too many errors.

She is also hoping the team will be able to tweak the rotation so they can settle into positions that really click for them. They will be working on building confidence, especially at the end of games so that they can finish strong.
