Volleyball proud of 3-1 finish at NJC

After an extremely long day of volleyball action, the Lady Dragons went home with pride and a third-place finish at the Saturday, Sept. 9, tournament at Northeastern Junior College in Sterling.
“I’m proud of them for how they played,” said coach Hannah Petersen.
Seemingly easy matches resulted in wins over Nucla, Peetz and Heritage Christian, all in three sets.
The biggest challenge of the day was Dayspring Christian Academy, the reigning 2A state champs. Even though Holyoke was defeated in three sets, Petersen said the girls saw they could compete with high caliber teams when all of them do their jobs and play together.
Despite four games in one day, Petersen said the Lady Dragons brought a large amount of energy to the court. “When they are excited and loud, they play their best,” she said.
