Wray ends Lady Dragon season in districts

Holyoke’s volleyball season ended Tuesday, Oct. 24, in district pool play — much sooner than they had hoped.
Only one team would advance to the district finals, but odds were looking good for host team Holyoke (No. 3), who had already beat No. 6 Wray and No. 8 Sedgwick County earlier in the month during regular season play.
The Lady Dragons easily defeated Sedgwick County in three sets Tuesday evening.
Wray then took the court, overtaking Sedgwick County in four sets.
In the final showdown of the night, Holyoke and Wray both put up a fight until the end of five sets, with Wray taking the victory and the lone spot in the district finals Thursday, Oct. 26, in Yuma.
“They didn’t give up,” said Lady Dragon coach Hannah Petersen. “Overall, I’m optimistic about how they played this season.”
Consistent with the rest of the season, the coach gave high praise to Grace Dille, the only senior on the team. “I couldn’t ask for a better senior or leader,” said Petersen.
