Wrestlers head to regionals; Mosqueda 2nd in girls tourney

    Dragon wrestling reaches its peak this weekend as team members seek to qualify for state at the regional tournament at NJC in Sterling Friday and Saturday, Feb. 9-10.
    For those who are successful in securing a top-four finish at regionals, the season will extend to the Big Show, the 2A State Championships at the Pepsi Center in Denver Feb. 15-17. For the rest, the season will end.
    It was a relatively slow week in terms of competition last week, as the only outing for the full team was the home dual with Wray Thursday, Feb. 1.
    
Jessy Mosqueda runner-up in girls tournament

    Jessy and Jacky Mosqueda competed in the girls state invitational tourney in Thornton Saturday, Feb. 3, with Jessy claiming runner-up honors in the 100-lb. class.
    Coach Dusty McConnell said both girls did a great job in the tourney, which provided great opportunity to measure their skill levels against other girls. Close to 250 girls competed in the tournament.
