Yuma basketball sweeps state tourneys again

    Repeating last year’s 2A Colorado state tournament, Yuma won both the boys and girls championship games last Saturday, March 9.
    In the girls bracket, Yuma beat Heritage Christian 54-19 Thursday, then went on to beat Del Norte 51-35 Friday. Yuma faced Swink in Saturday’s championship game, winning 41-25. Also representing District 2, Wray lost 41-31 to Swink in the first round but went on to beat Limon 49-41 and won the consolation game 54-38 against Heritage Christian.
    In the boys bracket, Yuma beat Denver Christian 47-38 Thursday and Fowler 56-47 Friday. Highland faced Yuma in the championship game, losing 52-39.
