Yuma claims 2A state volleyball title

    Bringing a close to the Colorado 2A high school volleyball season, Yuma claimed the victory in the Nov. 8-10 state championship tournament at the Denver Coliseum. Ranked No. 1, Yuma had a bye in the first round. The team went on to beat Holly 3-0, Wiggins 3-0 and Meeker 3-1 to get into the championship match. There, Yuma beat Denver Christian 3-0.
    Also representing northeast Colorado in the 2A weekend tournament, No. 4 Wiggins beat Swink 3-0 before falling to Yuma and advancing to the elimination bracket. Limon lost to Swink 3-2 in the first round and also went to the elimination bracket.
    There,  Limon beat Del Norte 3-2 and Vail Mountain 3-1 before Wiggins and Limon faced each other. Wiggins knocked Limon out of the tournament with a 3-1 win before being knocked out themselves by Denver Christian 3-0 in the semifinals.
