Yuma Invite heads girls toward regionals

    One step closer to regional action next Monday, May 6, the HHS girls golf team competed in the Yuma Invitational Friday, April 26.
    It was a good regional test, as seven of the eight competing teams, including Holyoke, will be at the May 6 regional at Highland Hills in Greeley, according to coach Nick Flaa.
    Brenna Sullivan carded a 109 to place ninth at Yuma. Other varsity team members included Traeli Hutches with a 112, Amy Mackay 120 and Emily Chaney 129.
    Junior varsity team members included Chloie Metzger, who turned in a 59, Kaylee Camblin 66, Jacky Valenzuela 72 and Makenzie Martin 72.
    “Course conditions were challenging, as the rough (grass) level was a much higher cut than we have seen all year,” Flaa said.
