Students at White Star School are pictured in 1931 or 1932. Students who attended the school at this time include Albert Henry, Avalee Henry, Thelma Bennett, Ruby Bennett, Mildred Irene Handley, Cleo Bell Handley, Maura Mae Handley, Garnet Parks, Kenton Parks, Viola Stauffer, Junior Barton, Doris Barton, George Wengert, Mildred Wengert, Marie Lundeen and Betty Pope. The district was formed in 1887, when the land that became Phillips County was still part of Logan County. The district was large enough to support two schools, West Bryant and East Bryant. West Bryant was located 12 miles south and 1/2 mile west of Haxtun, and East Bryant 13 miles south and 4 miles east of Haxtun. They combined to form White Star School 13 1/2 miles south and 2 miles east of Haxtun. It was then moved to a farm 1 1/2 miles south of Haxtun when the school was disbanded. The district was annexed to the Highland Center district in 1947. — Source: Phillips County Museum
