New hospital beds at MMH put safety of patients, staff first

Patients at Melissa Memorial Hospital can expect safer and more comfortable hospital beds after 15 new beds were purchased and moved to the hospital in July.

Jim Evans’ Guernsey dairy north of the Frenchman Creek is pictured. Evans hauled milk from the dairy to Clover Blossom Creamery in Holyoke. In 1943, Fred R. Peterson, owner of the creamery, sold about 4,000 pounds of butter to the quartermaster corps of the war department since regulations at the time required butter manufacturers to set aside 30% of their total production monthly for the government. The creamery was the only butter-making plant between Denver and McCook, Nebraska, and it was sold to L.A. Biddle in 1946. — Source: Phillips County Museum
