Scheunemann General Merchandise store is pictured in the early 20th century. August Scheunemann, an early homesteader, established a general mercantile store in 1899 in association with L. LeBlanc. The store’s first location was a frame building on the northeast corner of the intersection of Interocean Avenue and Denver Street. In 1907, Scheunemann built and moved into a new and larger brick building on the southeast corner of the intersection of Interocean Avenue and Denver Street.
