Holyoke City Park was the site of a Glover family reunion in the late 1940s. The Glovers arrived by covered wagon in 1886 and settled just east of where Holyoke now stands. In 1892, they moved 12 and a half miles southeast of Holyoke. George T. Glover was one of the earliest settlers in Phillips County. A 1904 issue of The State Herald congratulates him on his marriage to Flora Norris and notes that George was “one of Phillips County’s most prosperous ranchmen.” — Source: Pat (Starbuck) Altstadt
