The first house of Clarence Holmes is pictured when the family sold it in 1918. Holmes was born in Buffalo County, Nebraska, on May 30, 1884. The family moved near Champion, Nebraska, in 1887, and to a farm near Paoli in 1901. They remained there a short time before moving to Holyoke, where they lived for about a year until they moved to a farm southeast of town.
