Over 200 years ago, Oktoberfest began as a wedding feast for Crown Prince Ludwig of Bavaria and Princess Therese of Saxe-Hildburghausen.
Beer lovers who also like to travel no doubt include attending Oktoberfest in Munich, Germany, on their bucket lists.
Thomas and Lena Lane lived on a homestead 7 miles southwest of Holyoke for 14 years following their marriage in 1892, where Thomas was engaged in farming and stock raising.
