Homesteaders Park was dedicated Aug. 1, 1976, at a ceremony honoring 47 direct descendants of Phillips County homesteaders who still owned the original homesteaded land at the time. They received a certificate signed by the governor, Phillips County Commissioner Harold Colglazier and Alice Bamford. Approximately 250 people attended the ceremony. Bamford is pictured at the microphone, and John Sullivan is to her left on the platform. Music was provided by the Holyoke Town Band and the Haxtun Senior Citizens. — Source: Phillips County Museum
