Gun ownership, hunting and shooting sports are commonplace in the Holyoke area, but residents should remember that firearms cannot be discharged within city limits.

Though this house is identified as the home of L.P. Foster, its location is unknown. Dr. Lyman P. Foster was a Phillips County commissioner in the early 1900s and at one time lived on a farm about 2 miles northwest of Holyoke, later moving into town before moving to California around 1915. In the June 12, 1908, edition of The State Herald, it says he was building a fancy porch to his residence on the hill, but it is unknown whether or not it’s referring to the house pictured. — Source: Phillips County Museum
