Jesse Taylor is recovering and will be back behind the wheel, but he sure gave the Phillips County Raceway fans a show right in front of the grandstands at the July 2 races.
Juniors Lauren Herman, pictured at left, and Correy Koellner both brought home gold medals from the Colorado 2A State Track & Field Championships last weekend. Herman won the discus with a personal best and school record toss of 126’ 1”, while Koellner took the shot put win with a throw of 38’ 8.25”. Showing the strength of the Lady Dragon throw team, they each placed second behind each other in both events, and fellow team member Emali Torres made it a 1-2-3 by placing third in the shot. Three boys placed in a total of four events to mark points for the Dragon boys track team at the 2A state track and field championships at Jeffco Stadium in Lakewood on June 24-26.
Holyoke golfers Emma Thompson and Erin Andersen gained valuable experience at the 3A state tournament at Elmwood Golf Course in Pueblo on Monday and Tuesday, June 21-22.
