Christina Ortega awarded new laptop PDF Print E-mail

Christina Ortega, Holyoke Alternative High School senior, has already taken a giant step forward down the business road to success and she’s only 18. Ortega was awarded a new laptop computer by Viaero Wireless Director of New Business Development Michelle Baker for her role in Viaero’s Youth Technology Program

As an incentive to help students and their families, Viaero pioneered a program that awards computers to deserving students in exchange for successfully playing a role in having 25 new accounts switch to Viaero.

Using her new Blackberry phone, provided by Viaero, coupled with mentoring by Maria Ortega and Teresa Iniguez, Christina learned firsthand about the products and services Viaero offers. She quickly achieved the goal and joined a fast growing club of successful young entrepreneurs throughout the Viaero network.

“I have four daughters,” said Viaero president Frank DiRico, “and I wanted to find a way we could assist parents so they would not have to pay for new computers while at the same time providing very useful and important business mentoring to some very bright young people. These students have proven to be an invaluable asset to Viaero as they personalize our service within their communities and we feel this is a life experience that prepares them for the real world of their future.”

During her visit to Holyoke last week, Baker also announced a new local member of the Viaero Youth technology team: 17-year-old Bianca Acosta, also a senior at Holyoke Alternative High School.
