Nurse nominations sought for '10 Nightingale Awards PDF Print E-mail
Written by Holyoke Enterprise

The nursing profession has repeatedly been rated as the most trusted of the helping professions. The public is encouraged to nominate nurses for the 25th Annual Centennial Region Nightingale Awards.

Holyoke’s own Winona Rouze was recipient of one of the early Nightingale Award honors in 1987.

Nominees should be nurses who have shown excellence in human caring or been especially helpful to individuals, families or the community.

Centennial Area Health Education Center (AHEC), a regional non-profit whose mission supports health professionals in northeast Colorado, is coordinating the awards program. Nominating an outstanding nurse helps show all nurses in the Front Range and Eastern Plains of Colorado that their efforts are recognized and appreciated.

The Nightingale Awards were established in 1985 as a tribute to the professional excellence of Colorado’s registered nurses. The Colorado Nurses Foundation (CNF) sponsors this annual statewide program with support from the Colorado AHEC System.

The statewide event is designed to recognize the contributions of Colorado nurses and serve as a fundraiser for scholarships and educational activities for nurses throughout the state. Since 1999, CNF has awarded 244 scholarships totaling $310,750.

The 25th Annual Centennial Region awards ceremony and banquet, hosted by Centennial AHEC, will be held Friday, March 12, 2010 at the Embassy Suites in Loveland.

Nomination forms are available online at and must be faxed or postmarked by Friday, Dec. 4. For more information, contact Donna Herman at 970-330-3608 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
