|County to update housing plan|
|Written by Darci Tomky|
Phillips County will be updating their Housing Needs Assessment Plan, reported the Phillips County Commissioners at their Jan. 29 meeting. The goal of the plan is to assess housing needs and give the county goals to meet those needs.
There are grant monies available from Colorado Division of Housing to update the plan. Nici Bishop and Trish Seaver are putting together a request for proposal for Phillips and Sedgwick counties. One consultant will be used for both counties but each county will have their own plan updated.
Phillips County’s Housing Needs Assessment will take place in the next six to nine months. Commissioners noted five to six years ago the county had one done by the Bank of Wichita.
Commissioners also reported last month they had a reorganizational meeting. Jerry Beavers was named chair of the commissioners. Bud Biesemeyer and Susan Roll Walters will share responsibilities when he is not present.
In other business in the month of January, commissioners:
—approved setting up a sprayer on an existing truck for District 2. Each district now has a sprayer.
—renewed membership with Holyoke and Haxtun’s Chamber of Commerce.
—noted the tentative date for this year’s Taste of Agriculture is set for Saturday, Feb. 27 in the Phillips County Event Center.
—renewed lease with Duane Harms for farm ground at the landfill.
