Colorado U.S. Route 6 Heritage Corporation will sponsor its third annual car show and historical presentation Saturday, April 24. A Model T and Model A Car Show will take place across the street from the Peerless Center on Interocean Avenue from 2-4 p.m.
Lee and Jane Whiteley from Centennial will present the program and talk about the historic U.S. Route 6 through Colorado. Comments will also be given by Ken Oltjenbruns of the Colorado U.S. Route 6 Heritage Corp.
Various educational Highway 6 displays will be set up in the lobby. Refreshments will be served after the program.
Colorado U.S. Route 6 Heritage Corp. has been created in Holyoke to promote travel on Highway 6. The organization eventually plans to establish a Visitor and Cultural Center as one of a series of visitor centers along Highway 6.
This historic route is also known as the Grand Army of the Republic Highway, named in memory of Civil War veterans. Route 6 spans 3,652 miles and crosses 14 states in its route from Provincetown, Mass. to Long Beach, Calif.
