Written by Brenda Johnson Brandt
HHS girls competing on the Sterling HS swim team had a good day Tuesday, Jan. 6, defeating the Skyline swimmers 99-84 in a dual at the Sterling pool.
Holyoke coach Adria Colver said it was a good meet. Several swimmers dropped times despite the holiday break and the newness of being in a longer meter pool.
All three Sterling relays have qualified for State, so the focus is now on skills and individual events.
HHS senior LeAnne McWilliams earned a second place in the 100 backstroke and swam the opening backstroke leg of the 200 medley relay which placed first.
Three other Holyoke swimmers placed in individual events. Sophomore Briar Bergner finished third in the 100 breaststroke, freshman Amy Krogmeier fourth in 200 Individual Medley and freshman Jordan Zeiler fifth in 200 freestyle.
Zeiler and sophomore Pamela McWilliams were also members of the 200 free relay which finished third.
Swimmers competed at the Greeley West Invite Saturday, Jan. 10 and a dual at Eaton Tuesday, Jan. 13.
The Greeley meet was a huge one, with numerous teams and competitors. Holyoke swimmers for the meet included LeAnne McWilliams, Briar Bergner, Pamela McWilliams and Amy Krogmeier.
Thursday, Jan. 15, the team will travel to Scottsbluff, Neb. for a dual meet, and Tuesday, Jan. 20 will travel to Windsor for dual competition.
