The second Tuesday in August marks the 2010 Colorado Primary Election, and voters affiliated with the Democratic, Republican or Libertarian parties in Phillips County may cast a ballot for the candidates of that party.
Phillips County residents are reminded their mail-in ballots must be returned to the Phillips County Clerk’s office before 7 p.m. on Aug. 10. The courthouse will be open from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. on that Tuesday for voters to turn in their ballots.
Primary Election races include one in the Democratic party, three Republican races and two for the Libertarians. All other candidates are running uncontested.
Democrats can choose between Andrew Romanoff and Michael F. Bennet for United States Senator.
Republican races include Ken Buck and Jane Norton for United States Senator, Dan Maes and Scott McInnis for Governor and J.J. Ament and Walker Stapleton for State Treasurer.
Maclyn “Mac” Stringer and John Finger are both running for United States Senator, and Dan “Kilo” Sallis and Jaimes Brown are in the race for Governor, all in the Libertarian party.
Phillips County’s only local race this year is for County Treasurer. Republican Linda L. Statz will meet Independent Shari Cagle in the General Election in November.
