Child care training in Yuma PDF Print E-mail
Written by Holyoke Enterprise

Child care can be an exciting and rewarding field. Working as a family child care provider presents a wonderful opportunity to have a positive impact on the lives of children and their families in the community, all while making a good income for a family.

There is a continuing demand for more family child care providers in northeast Colorado because child care is needed by most working families in communities.

One of the goals of Northeast Colorado Child Care Resource and Referral (NCCCRR) is that every family will have access to quality and affordable child care. They have highly educated and dedicated staff on hand to help a potential family child care provider through every stage of getting their new family child care business up and running.

The NCCCRR has been providing these services to child care providers since 1993. One can learn more about becoming a licensed family child care provider by visiting their website at or calling Claudia Strait, County Coordinator at NCCCRR at 970-848-3867, ext. 26.

There will be a state approved 15 hour pre-licensing training Nov. 5-6. During this training, potential providers will learn about the rules regulating licensed child care homes, professionalism, child growth and development, developmentally appropriate practice, guidance, administration and supervision, health, safety and nutrition, cultural and individual diversity, and family and community relationships.

This training will be in Yuma from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. each day. This is one of the trainings that is required by the state to become a licensed family child care provider.

Anyone in Colorado, regardless of which county they live in, who wishes to become a licensed provider, can attended this training. To find out more about this training contact Sheila Anzlovar, program director of NCCCRR at 970-848-3867, ext. 23 or 1-877-338-CARE.

Northeast Colorado Child Care Resource and Referral covers Cheyenne, Kiowa, Kit Carson, Lincoln, Logan, Phillips, Sedgwick, Washington and Yuma counties in northeast Colorado. It is a Qualistar Colorado partner which receives funding through CDHS and they are a program of the Rural Communities Resource Center. They receive funding from Cheyenne, Kit Carson, Lincoln and Yuma County Departments of Human/Social Services.
