|Lutzes celebrate 64th|
|Written by Holyoke Enterprise|
Nearly the entire family of Les and Genevieve Lutze will gather this month in Holyoke to celebrate the couple’s 64th wedding anniversary.
In 1923, Leslie James Lutze was born on the Lutze homestead in Pleasant Valley, east of Holyoke. And in 1928, Genevieve Irene Welper was born on a farm west of Amherst.
After Les served in the Marines in WWII, the two were married in Holyoke Jan. 19, 1947.
Les and Genevieve have made Holyoke their home all of their married lives. Four children were born to them: Diane, Alan, Joan and Jill. They have eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and three to be born this year.
When the family gathers this month in Holyoke, they will attend church together and spend the day honoring and celebrating the faithfulness of these parents and grandparents.
At their 50th anniversary celebration in 1997, their son Alan told the story of how “the love and faithfulness, pledged in a small wedding 50 years ago, have so deeply touched and guided the 15 lives that are a result of this marriage.”
Even into this 64th year, the enduring love and faithful example of Les and Genevieve continue to inspire and guide the ever growing family.
