Pfaltzgraff was placed on paid administrative leave from his teaching position in the Haxtun School District Wednesday, Feb. 16 at 11 a.m., according to Supt. Darcy Garretson.

At the same time, Garretson informed Haxtun Police Dept. they had an incident that needed investigated.

Friday, Feb. 18, Phillips County Sheriff’s Office reported they took custody of Pfaltzgraff. He was arrested on a warrant out of Haxtun for sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust and sexual exploitation of a child. He was taken to Yuma County Jail for housing.

At Tuesday’s advisement, Judge Singer issued an order concerning extrajudicial statement of counsel, law enforcement and agencies, as well as court personnel (gag order).

As it is the court’s duty to assure fairness in the trial process, the court notes the order will aid in assuring all participants are treated fairly.

The order states general and specific prohibited statements, as well as permitted disclosures by counsel, law enforcement and agencies and court personnel.

The order will remain in effect until further order of the court.
