The first annual Second Wind Fund of Northeast Colorado fundraiser and silent auction will be hosted by Rural Solutions Saturday, April 16 at Riverview Golf Club in Sterling. The event begins at 6 p.m. with appetizers and the silent auction, followed by dinner.
The annual event will be used to help raise funds to support mental health services for youth at risk of suicide in northeast Colorado. Visit SWFNC.thesecondwindfund.org for more information about the program.
Keir Royale will be the featured entertainment for the evening. Royale is an accomplished illusionist from Denver and will be demonstrating to the audience how life truly is “magical” if only people look for the magic in what so many take for granted every day.
“Since Second Wind is a program of Rural Solutions, all funds raised from the event will go directly to mental health services for youth 19 years old and younger in our region of the state,” according to Maranda Miller, program coordinator for Second Wind Fund.
“It is critical that our communities understand that we take their financial support very seriously and utilize it to help our youth. Mental health services can be very costly, and when a youth is in need we want them to be able to access effective services while not financially burdening their family.”
Currently, Second Wind Fund of Northeast Colorado has accepted 24 referrals of youth at risk for suicide and the phone continues to ring every week.
“The need is there, as suicide is the second leading cause of death for youth in Colorado, and the need is growing every week. We are looking forward to keeping this fund sustained so we can continue our commitment to never turning a youth at risk for suicide away,” states Miller.
