Darci Tomky, who has been a valued fill-in interim staff member at the Holyoke Enterprise for close to six months, has recently accepted full-time employment on the newspaper staff.
Among her many duties will be advertising design, commercial printing job design, news reporting, photography and uploading the Enterprise website each week.
A 2004 graduate of HHS, Tomky served a summer internship at the Enterprise in 2007 and proved herself immediately as a conscientious, creative and reliable staff member.
Last May, Tomky graduated from Hastings College in Hastings, Neb. with a B.A. degree in media production with emphasis in advertising and public relations and also a B.A. in music/piano performance.
During college, Tomky was active in Campus Crusades all four years and served on the leadership team for a year and a half. She served a 10-week program in San Diego, Calif. on a mission-type venture. She worked at Sea World and interacted with co-workers, as well as fellow Campus Crusade members.
During her spring break one year, Tomky volunteered to assist with Hurricane Katrina clean-up in New Orleans. During a J-term experience during her college years, she traveled to Italy.
While at Hastings College, Tomky was a member of the marching and concert bands, playing alto saxophone all four years and mallets for a couple of years. She also provided piano accompaniment. As a college freshman, Tomky was a member of the band that performed at Carnegie Hall in New York City.
Tomky was a member of Alpha Omega, a Christian sorority at Hastings College.
Since her return to Holyoke, Tomky has been assisting with leadership for the Holyoke FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) chapter and is playing piano for the Saturday night contemporary service at First Baptist Church in Holyoke.
Darci is the daughter of Darrell and Debbie Tomky of Holyoke.
