|Tracksters open season Saturday at Akron Invite|

Making the short leap from the winter to spring athletic seasons, Holyoke Dragon tracksters already face their first meet in Akron on Saturday, March 21.
Twenty-nine names have been added to the roster so far and are expected to be in the starting blocks at 9 a.m. for the opening meet.
This year, the boys’ team includes one senior, three juniors, three sophomores and two freshmen. On the girls’ team there are one senior, three juniors, 10 sophomores and six freshmen.
Sandra Rahe will be heading up this year’s coaching staff. Tracy Trumper is returning for her third year as assistant coach, and Clint Goldenstein will be joining the coaching team this season as well.
Holyoke’s schedule includes eight regular meets as well as league, regional and state meets. In addition to this week’s season opener in Akron, the track team will compete in Yuma, Burlington, again in Yuma, Wray, Imperial, Neb., the Northeast Colorado Classic in Sterling, and will end in Yuma.
League and regional meets will take place in Sterling with the state tournament to follow in Pueblo.
