Praise team gathers for Easter concert PDF Print E-mail
Written by Holyoke Enterprise

In celebration of the upcoming Easter holiday, local residents came together for the Holyoke Community Easter Concert Sunday, April 5 at the Assembly of God church.
A blizzard snowstorm on Saturday may have prevented some from attending the concert, but praise team member Caryl Harvey thought there was still a good turnout considering the weather situation.
“We glorified God which is the main thing we set out to do,” noted Harvey.
Pastor Gordon Penfold provided an Easter-themed narration interspersed throughout the evening.
Praise team members entertained with several songs during the concert. Highlights included a duet by Sarah St. Martin and Susan Baker for the praise team’s Above All and enthusiastic singing and tambourine playing in He is Jehovah.
Other vocal ensembles included Julie Wiebke, Deanne Haidle and Bev Atkins; Charles Harvey and Deanne Haidle; and the Harvey family with Shawna Bergstrom, Sarah St. Martin and Charles and Caryl Harvey.
Additionally, soloists providing musical selections for the evening were Jim Bohlender, Laura Krogmeier, Charles Harvey and Sarah St. Martin.
Audience members also joined in on several songs led by the praise team and Bev Atkins.
Mary Bohlender and Shawna Bergstrom provided piano accompaniment.
After gathering for the community church service at the Phillips County Fair in August, the interdenominational praise team was revived, and they decided they wanted to do events every few  months.
Harvey said, “We liked singing together so much we didn’t want to stop!”
In addition to the fair, the group has also performed at Celebration 2008 last October and at the Parade of Lights in December.
Harvey noted plans are being made for the praise team to sing at the World Day of Prayer event May 7 as well as performing again at the fair in July.
Anyone interested in singing with the praise team is encouraged to keep watch for notices about practice and performance times for upcoming events.
