HHS senior Mark Edmonds made it three straight years when he climbed to the top of the winners’ stand at the 2A Colorado State Wrestling Championships Saturday night at the Pepsi Center in Denver.

Edmonds emphasizes his three-time accomplishment after winning a 2-1 four-overtime match over Alex Klopp of Yuma in the 132-lb. bracket. The Edmonds-Klopp match-up was a replay from the 2011 125-lb. state championship where Edmonds defeated Klopp 8-4.

In 2010, Edmonds won a 9-3 victory over Robert Darnell of Holly in the 112-lb. championship. Darnell took the 126-lb. gold this year, spoiling three-time state champion Alex Peña’s chance for a four-time gold medal high school career. Darnell was the 130-lb. champion in 2011.

Edmonds ends his high school wrestling career with a 142-17 record and heads to Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pa. He signed his national letter of intent to wrestle at Bucknell on Nov. 9.
