|Free preschool screening scheduled|
|Written by Holyoke Enterprise|
Northeast Colorado BOCES, in conjunction with Holyoke School District RE-1J, will be offering free developmental screenings to children ages 3-5—children who will not attend Kindergarten next year.
The screen will briefly evaluate the areas of language, gross and fine motor, pre-academic development, hearing and other medical needs. All parents with preschool-aged children are encouraged to participate in this screening.
Children living in the Holyoke area can be screened on Friday, May 1 from 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m. at Holyoke Preschool. Call the school at 854-2999 to schedule an appointment.
Children identified as having needs that could affect later school performance may be eligible for special services through Northeast Colorado BOCES. These services are offered in a variety of community settings designed to meet the needs of preschool-aged children. Involvement in a program is not mandatory after participating in the screen and is not provided without parental consent.
Children under 3 can be screened on an individual basis. For more information on the screening or questions regarding your child’s development, call the Early Childhood Coordinator: Haxtun BOCES Office at 774-6152.
