|Golf season is coming to a close|

The Holyoke girls’ golf team is rapidly seeing its season come to a close.
Coach Garrett Gordon said each of the girls has made a big improvement as the season has progressed. He noted nearly half the team is stepping onto the course for the first time this year and they are all playing well and working hard.
The team hosted a scramble-style tournament on their home course Wednesday, April 25. All six of Holyoke’s golfers played in the tournament.
Makayla Spitz and Caitlyn Kramer turned in the lowest score for the three Dragon teams after shooting a 48.
Alyssa Cordova and KrisAnna Ham teamed up to card a 50 while the team of Kelsey Kramer and Alex McCallum turned in a 60.
The low round of the day came from Haley Patterson and Sherelle Brophy of Yuma with a 42. The Yuma team of Alex Mekelburg and Morgan Weinrich and the Wray team of Darcy Vernon and Torri each shot 43.
Yuma won the tournament with a combined score of 85. Holyoke was second with a 98 and Brush was third with a 109. Scores came from the two lowest pairings.
Teams participating in the scramble were Holyoke, Brush, Yuma, Fleming and Wray.

The team traveled to Yuma March 31 where two golfers played varsity (18 holes) and three played junior varsity (nine holes).
Cordova turned in a 124 18-hole score while Caitlyn Kramer carded a 130.
On the junior varsity side of things, Kelsey Kramer shot a 66, Ham a 70 and McCallum a 73.
Yuma won the tournament with a team score of 297. Brush was second with a 301. Holyoke and Wray didn’t have enough varsity golfers to record a team score.
April 12, the Dragon team traveled to the F&H course for a scramble tournament. Spitz and Caitlyn Kramer finished second overall after shooting a 47. Ham was paired with a golfer from another team and they shot a 56 while Kelsey Kramer and Cordova carded a 58.
Holyoke was scheduled to travel to Fort Morgan Tuesday, May 1. The regional tournament will be held Tuesday, May 8 at Broadlands in Broomfield beginning at 10 a.m.
